The VirtualMD method
How we work together
Brain and nerve symptoms aren’t always isolated problems. Headaches can be influenced by sleep, medications, blood pressure, hormones, or metabolic health. Fatigue and difficulty concentrating can have medical as well as psychological causes. Numbness or tingling may require a closer look at nutritional, metabolic, or neurologic factors. Dr. Patel looks at the whole picture rather than treating one symptom in isolation.
- 01
Symptom & Pattern Mapping
You complete a detailed health history covering your symptoms, timing, triggers, sleep, medications, stress, medical history, and how your symptoms affect daily life.
- 02
Medical & Metabolic Evaluation
When clinically appropriate, Dr. Patel orders laboratory testing to look for contributing factors such as thyroid, nutritional, metabolic, or other medical abnormalities.
- 03
Dedicated Virtual Consultation
You meet with Dr. Patel by secure video or phone to review your symptoms, medical history, medications, and available results — and determine the appropriate next step.
- 04
Personalized Treatment Plan
When appropriate, treatment may include medication management, lifestyle strategies, sleep optimization, symptom tracking, or additional diagnostic evaluation.
- 05
Ongoing Monitoring
Screening questionnaires, symptom patterns, medication response, and relevant laboratory results can be tracked over time rather than evaluated during one isolated visit.
- 06
Specialist Coordination When Needed
If your symptoms require neurologic, psychiatric, psychological, sleep-medicine, or other specialty evaluation, Dr. Patel coordinates the appropriate next step and keeps your care connected.
Your Brain Is Part of Your Whole Health
Headaches, fatigue, numbness, poor sleep, anxiety, and difficulty concentrating can have many different causes. Good medicine starts by looking at the whole person — not just the symptom.

Honest fit
Is VirtualMD the right fit for you?
Who this is for
- Washington adults looking for thoughtful evaluation of common headaches, migraines, nerve symptoms, anxiety, depression, sleep concerns, or other stable conditions appropriate for virtual internal-medicine care.
- Patients who want their symptoms evaluated in the context of their whole medical picture, rather than treated in isolation.
- People who value ongoing medication review, symptom tracking, and coordinated care without unnecessary office visits.
- Patients who already see a neurologist or mental-health specialist and want their primary-care physician to help coordinate the broader medical picture.
What needs an in-person visit
- Neurologic evaluation when symptoms suggest a more complex disorder
- Psychiatric or psychological care beyond primary-care management
- Sleep-medicine evaluation
- Treatment beyond the scope of virtual internal medicine
VirtualMD is designed for non-emergency, outpatient care. Call 911 immediately for sudden facial drooping, new one-sided weakness or numbness, sudden trouble speaking or understanding, sudden vision changes, sudden loss of balance or coordination, or a sudden severe headache with no known cause. These can be warning signs of stroke and require emergency assessment. If you are experiencing a mental-health crisis or thoughts of suicide or self-harm, seek immediate crisis or emergency assistance rather than waiting for a virtual appointment.
Specialist Coordination
Some conditions require specialty expertise, diagnostic testing, or treatment beyond the scope of virtual internal medicine. When appropriate, Dr. Patel coordinates with neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, sleep specialists, or other specialists and helps keep your overall care connected.
Can Dr. Patel manage migraines and headaches virtually?
Yes. Many headache and migraine concerns can be evaluated and managed through a detailed medical history, symptom-pattern review, medication assessment, and virtual follow-up. Dr. Patel can help identify potential triggers, review current treatments, and determine whether additional testing or specialty evaluation is appropriate.
Can you help with numbness, tingling, or neuropathy?
Yes. Dr. Patel can evaluate common nerve-related symptoms and look for potentially treatable medical contributors, including metabolic, nutritional, medication-related, or other underlying conditions. When symptoms suggest a more complex neurologic disorder, he coordinates appropriate diagnostic testing or referral.
Can VirtualMD treat anxiety or depression?
Dr. Patel can provide primary-care evaluation and medication management for appropriate anxiety and depression presentations. Your symptoms, medical history, medications, sleep, and overall health are considered together. When psychotherapy, psychiatry, or more specialized mental-health care would provide additional benefit, Dr. Patel coordinates that care.
Can my thyroid, vitamins, or metabolism affect my mood or nerve symptoms?
They can. Certain medical conditions and nutritional or metabolic abnormalities can contribute to symptoms such as fatigue, difficulty concentrating, mood changes, or nerve symptoms. When clinically appropriate, Dr. Patel may order targeted laboratory testing rather than assuming every symptom has a purely neurologic or psychological cause.
What happens if I need a neurologist or psychiatrist?
You don’t have to figure out that next step alone. If your symptoms require specialty evaluation, Dr. Patel can coordinate an appropriate referral and continue managing the broader primary-care aspects of your health while you receive specialty care.
What if my symptoms suddenly become severe?
VirtualMD is not an emergency service. Sudden neurologic symptoms — including facial drooping, one-sided weakness or numbness, speech difficulty, sudden vision changes, severe loss of balance, or a sudden severe headache — require immediate emergency evaluation. Call 911 rather than waiting for a virtual appointment.
